A seismograph constructed by JJ Shaw was operated in Selfridges store, London, between 1932 and 1947. The full history of this instrument can be viewed in the Report WL/99/13 on Historical Seismological Observatories in the British Isles, available from NSA reports page. Various relevant photographs and articles have been copied into the NSA from the Selfridge archive, and incorporated into the online NSA database.
